Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught (Masters) and Research (MA by Research, PhD) students in Humanities, Musicology, Architecture and Communication, as well as early career artists in the fields of electronic music, composition, visual arts, video- and film-makers are eligible to participate to the Winter School.

Students from various backgrounds are welcome, in particular those interested in developing a background in creative audiovisual practices with a strong inclination towards digital arts and their relationship with space and location. You will work in multi-national working groups and will contribute with you own background to shape the specific program of the winter school. 

You are expected to contribute to your team work, that will take the form of a short audiovisual presentation devoted to the artistic transfiguration of a space within the University of Pavia, and possibly a site-specific installation to be presented at the end of the program.

You will be exposed to high quality research through introductory lectures and selected keynotes speakers lecturers.


  • Maximum number of admitted participants: 30 (the winter school will be activated only if a minimum number of 10 participants will be reached)
  • Participation fee: 300 € 
  • There will be scholarships for the best 10 applications, with fees that range from 50 € to 250 . The selection will consider CV, motivation letter, artistic portfolio and age of the applicant.
  • The winter school provides the assignment of 4 ECTS.

Please be advised that you will be asked to provide a 2-page CV, a letter of motivation (max. 500 words), and links to your music and/or audiovisual portfolio. 

We will run the selection process at the end of December, and then on a regular basis depending on the places available.

We would like to encourage participation of international students from different countries including developing ones and the Global South. Although we are not able to offer full scholarships to the best applicants, a scheme of reduced fees will be benefit the first 10 best applicants (based on motivation letter, academic merit and portfolio if applicable).
